Why Now

Europe's industrial future depends on metals we can't currently make

Permanent magnets for wind turbines and EV motors are made from neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) alloy. Today, 90% of the world’s NdPr metal comes from China, and zero is produced in the European Union. As the EU’s demand for rare earth metals is set to grow six-fold by 2030 and twenty-one-fold by 2050, the gap is no longer just a supply chain issue — it’s a question of industrial sovereignty.

REEmet was founded to close that gap. We’re building the first commercial electrochemical metallization facility in the EU, transforming rare earth oxides into high-purity NdPr metal — sustainably, transparently, and at scale.

Gary Urb, PhD

CEO & Co-Founder

Former CEO & Co-Founder, UP Catalyst · Former CTO, Wolf Group Global

Gary brings 15+ years of experience in chemical engineering and production. His background spans molten-salt electrochemistry and hands-on business development — the exact combination required to turn lab-scale electrolysis into a commercial plant. He holds a PhD in chemistry from the University of Tartu.

Former Head of R&D (Rare Earths), Neo Performance Materials Silmet

Imre brings over a decade of R&D experience in electrochemistry, complemented by project and people management expertise — including hands-on leadership in industry-driven R&D environments. He holds a PhD in chemistry, specializing in electrochemistry, from Case Western Reserve University.
